September 25 and 26, 2024: Study days on “(D)écrire les œuvres: histoires, enjeux et expérimentations autour des cartels” (“Writing works of art: cartel histories, issues and experiments”)

The Fondation Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne wishes you all the best for the new academic year!

To get the academic year off to a good start, on September 25 and 26 we're hosting the Journées d'études on the theme of “(D)écrire les œuvres : histoires, enjeux et expérimentations autour des cartels”, organized by the Chaire Delphine Lévy (Yaël Kreplak, with the participation of Anne Dressen) at the Institut national d'histoire de l'art (INHA) and the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris.

The cartel reflects a certain understanding of the museum's role, the relationship it seeks to establish with its works, the ways in which it intends to address its audience(s), and a certain idea of what a work or heritage object is.

In a dialogue between researchers, artists and museum professionals, and by crossing different “cartel cultures” (historical, anthropological, aesthetic...), the aim is to consider the cartel not only as a source for writing art history, but also to make it an object of research and creation.

We look forward to seeing you there!
