The Insurance and Society Chair
The "Assurance et Société, Historicité des savoirs et pratique de l'interdisciplinarité" Chair follows on from the eponymous multi-year research program created in 2016 thanks to the support of the Fédération Française de l’Assurance. The Chair has three major ambitions. Reposition insurance within an interdisciplinary approach, opening up to the methods and tools of the humanities and social sciences, as well as those of the hard sciences, such as mathematics. To understand long-term trends, continuities, crises and ruptures, by placing the insurance industry (players, institutions, organizations) in a meaningful temporality, past and present. Choose innovative, unprecedented fields of inquiry that will be placed in a dimension of historicity to study the successive functions of Insurance with regard to major political, economic, scientific, technical and societal issues.
