The PcEn Chair, created within the Panthéon-Sorbonne Foundation of the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and co-sponsored by Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas University, conducts research in partnership with companies and public institutions.

Created and directed by Joëlle Farchy, The PcEn Chair was officially launched on March 3, 2020 with a symposium at the Sorbonne: "The reform of the audiovisual sector in France".

It is developing its activities around two lines of research:

  • The diversity and quality of online cultural and media content.
  • The ethical issues surrounding algorithms and digital technology.

This research has led to scientific publications and experiments on algorithmic recommendation systems for audiovisual and music services. The Chair carries out its activities with the support of public and private partner organizations, and contributes a net 10% of the funds raised to the Foundation's budget.
In addition to recruiting junior researchers, the Chair has forged numerous one-off collaborations with other researchers and lecturers at the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas Universities.
